Name: Mathew Scott Amtrum
Age: 22
Gender: Male (Heterosexual)
Profession: Trainer
Alignment: Military (Neutral Good)
Appearance: Mathew is a bit taller than the average male, standing just over six feet tall. His body is toned and well built naturally, something that his military training has only improved upon. His muscles are well defined and easily visible due to his low percentage of body fat, though he is not overly bulky like some of the other soldiers. His skin is a light olive tone, keeping him from being pasty white even in the dead of winter. This turns in to a crisp tan if he gets a fair amount of sun.
Mathew's uniform is always crisp and ironed providing he is within the city and able to do so. His boots shined so that they gleam in the sun. Everything about his uniform is kept to the highest standards in accordance to his officer guidelines. In fact the only unkempt part of him would be his hair. Which is kept longer than is standard, though still within the guidelines for acceptable hair lengths. His hair is straight with a slight wavy quality to it. The bangs when not brushed to the side reaching down as if trying to block his stern emerald gaze. A gaze that looks all the more stern due to the scar going down his right eye.
When not on duty his appearance seems to take a full turn in the other direction. While not sloppy, it is far more casual than one would expect Mathew to look like. Blue jeans adorn his body along with a pair of hiking boots and a black T shirt. Or some other simple outfit. Far from stylish but not uncommon attire for a Pokemon trainer. Whether on or off duty however two things never change about his attire. The first would be his dog tags hanging around his neck, identification should he ever be killed. The second would be his trainer belt complete with his pokeballs.
Personality: Mathew is a soldier of loyalty. To him he is serving his country, for good or ill it is his home and it is his duty to serve it the best he can. He has a lot of pride, pride in his nation, pride in his station, and pride in himself. Oftentimes this pride can blind him, causing him to refuse to see something that may be blatantly obvious to other people because it disrupts his view of the world or how it should be. His pride does not make him cruel though. He joined the military to serve and protect, and that is what he strives to do. Normally he will try to do this within the confines of the rules and regulations set before him. However if the need was great enough and he truly felt he was doing the right thing he could be brought to break the rules, however reluctantly.
Mathew is ambitious, seeking to rise up in to the highest ranks of the military so that he may in turn cause some real good to happen. In his mind the problems in this country were because the people in power did not always think about what was in the best interest of the public, and the way to solve that was to become one of the ones in power. To him rebelling and fighting the system just gave it more power as it inspired fear in the populace, the way to make change was to use the system. Still, his idealism can blind him to the true intentions of other people and he is still young enough to believe in the best in everybody. This can sometimes make it easy for people to take advantage of him, by convincing him that they are doing what they are doing for the greater good.
Biography: Born and raised in Central Mathew was an Altairen through and through. He was born before the war, and his earliest memories were ones of peace. Living in a modest house with his Mother and his Father. His Mother was a stay at home mom during his early years. His Father was a soldier in the Army, not only was he a soldier but he was a pokemon trainer.
Growing up Mathew was a normal kid. He played with his friends, seemingly carefree. He loved being outside and hated having to stay indoors. Especially when it was nice out. He got along well with most kids his age, playing games like pirates, and pokemon trainers, and of course getting in to trouble. Mathew was normally the ring leader of the antics that got them in trouble.
The most memorable time for him was when he was six years old. Him and a group of boys had found an injured Meowth. Mathew and the boys had cornered it with sticks and were poking at it and laughing. Pretending that they were still playing pokemon and had to weaken it. The scared Meowth lashed out with an attack, hitting Mathew square in the face. Mathew's face was bleeding from the attack, his right eye already swelling as he put his hand to his face to try and stop the bleeding. He started to cry from the pain and surprise of being attacked.
The other kids scrambled and eventually his Father found him sitting alone and crying. This is the part that Mathew always remembers. His Father bending down, his face looking so calm as he did so. Mathew couldn't help but feel at ease when he looked up at his Father. His Father asked him what happened and Mathew explained it. His knelt down beside him and explained to him personal responsibility. How people should help those around them, Pokemon or otherwise to make the world a better place. The words touched Mathew and inspired him to try and be the kind of person his Father was.
It was a few months later that his Father was shipped off and the war started. Every couple of weeks him and his Mother would get letters from his Father, telling them he was doing fine, and asking about their day to day life. This pattern continued for two years before the letters stopped. A couple of weeks went by and they didn't hear word, then a month went by with nothing. Finally, after a month and a half a man was sent to their home to inform them of his Father's death in the line of duty. They were told that he died fighting for his country, and that he was a hero and they should be proud of him. Words were little comfort.
Mathew's desire to make his dad proud was now his goal. His Father died for his country, doing what he thought was right to protect everyone in Altairen, Mathew was going to follow the same path. From that day forward he began to study and read a lot more. Study pokemon, study military tactics, and keeping up with his school work. Where other kids played sports and joined clubs after school Mathew would train. Running, climbing, swimming. He did everything he could to prepare for joining the Military when he got older.
Eventually the time came, he turned 18 and that same day he went to enlist in the Military. Working through the grunt phases. Focused on proving himself to his superiors. He kept himself tidy and followed orders. Within a few weeks he got his first promotion. It was another few months before he made Sergent. From there it was about a year and a half until he was accepted in to the officer training course.
The next two years of his life were filled with intense testing and training. Testing the physical limits of his body and mind. He took classes on tactics and leadership. At the end of the two years his overall marks were sufficient to promote him to Second Class Officer, which he is still currently serving as.
