Central The main city in the heart of Altairen, the main mart as well as the headquarters of the Dragon Slayers are located here. All personal signing up or coming into the country must begin here. This large city holds its own park and the surrounding country isn't exactly full of Pokemon, but boasts a selection of creatures which thrive off of the presence of humanity and those who could do without it.
Midway A small scrap of civilization built near the train station connecting New Port and Central. This area is much more remote and contains a host of different Pokemon in the rich foilage surrounding the tracks. To the northwest, across the tracks from town, one can see the faint glimmer of Dal Lake if they can climb high enough to see over the treetops.
New Port A place built near a trade port which now also specializes in trafficing people as well as cargo. Once people have registered their arrival in Central, they may return here on the tracks from which they came from. If one wishes for a Water Pokemon, this is the place to look. North Bay holds a host of salt water dwellers and sandy shores. To the west-southwest is Dal Lake, filled with fresh water Pokemon.
Sunrise Though Sunrise seems to be a lonely spec on the map in the western area of Altairen, it is only town with its own registered Safari Zone type atmosphere in the country. Hosting a wide variety of unique Pokemon, capturing them may prove to be an adventure in itself, especially since trainers aren't allowed to bring their own Pokemon along. This is also the foundation of a large laboratory researching Pokemon cloning and expanding TMs. You can thank them if you find any TMs that aren't registered as "official".
Rustan A town to the direct south of Central, it boasts its own small bout of tourism as well as a small train line which stops in both Afina and ends at Sunaska. The land around this area, extending all the way to Afina, seems rather dry and rough in comparison to the rest of Altairen's naturally lush ground. Ocassionally, one can find man-made objects which seem to have been abandoned, as well as abandoned camp sites. Pokemon are scarce in this area.
Afina Afina is on the southern end of the less-than-lush part of Altairen. In the far distance, the Ashal Forest looks so close, yet is miles from being close enough to touch. Afina itself is more like a train stop station of a town, much like Midway, but much less traveled. Rocky outcrops can be seen all around the area, some raising into rather large mounds, yet the area itself isn't what one would consider mountainous in comparison to Terra.
Sunaska The southernmost city in Altairen, the Pokemon in this tortured land seem far more skittish than those of any other area of the land, but their populations are also higher than any other land. Because people have fought each other in this area, the wildlife was simply chased away rather than beaten down. There are small, unexplored caves in this area which Pokemon dug out for hiding places. Be wary when entering such a cave, it could result in problems... and a lost limb.
Cedar A vibrant city literally cut right out of the forest. Felled trees in the surrouning area make up the lodge cabins that populate this area. A popular get-away for people looking to go camping and rent a piece of area near the forest. It supplies a route towards Ashen, though many residents try to dissuade travelers from going deep into the forests. Powerful creatures are rumored to lurk within the forests, too clever for even the Dragon Slayers to weed out.
Ashen A rural area with a tight-knit community. The citizens of this town, unlike most Altairens, respect the land on which they live and prefer to live as naturally as possible rather than try to harness and use the powers surrounding them. Because of that, they have been spared the wrath of the creatures that lurk nearby, even befriending Pokemon to guide them through the otherwise confusing and dense forests. They will try to turn you back, but will never tell you exactly what is out there.
Terra From Central leads the only beaten path east. If one stays on the road, they will find themselves climbing upward slowly at first, then higher and higher each day until the terrain turns into mountains. The higher one goes, the colder it becomes and the thinner the air is. It is a treacherous path to travel, not only because of the elements whipping up incredible air currents, but because it can kill to go upwards far too fast. Camps are set up along the route to allow one to adjust to the great heights. In the heart of the mountains, the city of Terra exists, and from the peak on which it rests, one can have a bird's eye view of Central, the Ashal forests, and some can even claim to see the far off Safari Zone fences. On the other side of the mountain, the great darkness of Paradox looms, as well as the desert land of Kura. This path leads directly into a drier land similar to the landscaping of southern Altairen, the path leading towards Paradox, though one could travel north of the path to end up in Kura.
There is a secondary route one can find if they look long enough. Deep caverns travel under the mountains into a dark, warm place. A great underground maze which opens up into a section overlooking sheer molten lava. This path is just as treacherous as the path of ice as the fumes and heat are just as dangerous as the air and chill. This path opens up into the desert area of Kura.
Kura A sheer desert called the Great Kuran surrounds the secluded town of Kura. A harsh and unforgiving land, the temperatures raise well into the hundreds by day, and lower towards near freezing at night. No path can be carved in this land, so knowing exactly where you are going is up to chance. Compases fail to work here, as part of the Paradox Triangle, which is composed of the entire mountain range of Kura, the great Kuran Desert, and all of Paradox. A great magnetic force causes traveling to become difficult, and with rumors of powerful Pokemon living in this area, many trainers have been known to travel here and never return. As for Kuran itself, travel well prepared and don't expect nature to offer any forgiveness.
Paradox Once a rich land, a mysterious twist of events left it uninhalitable by humans. With resources strained, no one has been able to take back the city, which has become a literal ghost down. Strong Pokemon have begun to train here, aggressively attacking any outsiders, human or Pokemon which dare to set foot inside of their territory. A dark aura surrounds the whole area, twisted screams and howls sounding in the distance. Once within the aura, the sky above seems to darken with a purple mist. It would be wise to travel with a friend and a few potions in such an unpredictable area.
