Raisa put Rogos down on her bed and stretched. Twenty minutes of hardcore cuddling was rather rough, especially when the little Nidoran kept raising his needles at the thought of exploring the city. It had been hard not to throw the little Pokemon across the room and swear at him when he kept poking her side with his needles.
In any case, the daily cuddling was done and they could take a stroll around town. Before they went out, however, Raisa put on a small coat with a stiff collar; it was cold outside. The little Nidoran put his paws on her leg, asking to be held while they walked out of the building.
"You're walking, little dude," said Raisa as she opened the apartment door. "If you poke me again with those needles, you won't get your dinner."
Rogos's ears drooped. He loved being carried around—Raisa's very touch made him happy. In a friendly way, of course. It wasn't often that Raisa would willingly pat him on the head or snuggle with him: even the daily cuddle mostly consisted of Raisa hugging him to her side like a bunch of school books.
Raisa snapped her fingers and Rogos stood alert. As they walked out the hall, Rogos kept behind his God, marching very solemnly while Raisa skipped down the steps. This was how all walks started out. By the end of the day, Raisa would probably be carrying the tired Nidoran home.
Outside, the cold air nipped at Raisa's nose. She hoped that, despite the frigid air, there would be a few wild Pokemon milling about. The ones around Central were generally weak and wouldn't be very useful without some work, but they were good fodder for training. Rogos needed to level up or "recruit" a new teammate. Either one would make them stronger, and if Raisa was to get anywhere in this world, she needed strength.

A slightly drowsy-looking Riku plodded through the park's morning-damp grass. Angel followed her trainer diligently, matching her step for step and occasionally re-shocking her glowing tail to make it keep glowing. With her wool, she was perfectly comfortable in chilly weather as long as it was dry.
"'Reep?"
Angel paused and stared at her trainer, who after a moment of realization also stopped and turned to Angel.
"Yes, Angel?" she asked, tilting her head slightly to the left as she waited. Angel stared up with a strange look in her eyes, then repeated her previous sound.
"'Reep?"
Riku continued to stare at the lamb, her sleepy mind not keen on thinking about anything. She lit up with realization suddenly as it clicked; Angel was hungry! With a smile, Riku dug through her little bag for something, anything, that her Pokemon could eat, but she turned up empty..
"I'm sorry, Angel, I don't have anything.. We'll have to stop somewhere before we find a place to rest tonight." she said, and the Mareep sighed.
"Maa maaa..."

At the sound of another voice, Raisa turned her head and grinned. What was this? A friend to make? Training fodder? She looked over at the lithe young lady with the Mareep, and her grin widened. If she had heard correctly, they needed food and shelter. Well, she could provide such things... at a price. She skipped over to the young lady, motioning for Rogos to follow.
"Hellooooo," she said, clutching her hands behind her back. "I'm Raisa! Nice to meet you." She tilted her head to the side, still grinning. "I couldn't help but overhear you needed a tiny bit of help. I can help you, if you'd like. But first... I want to battle you. If you win, we can head over to my apartment and have some dinner. I'll even let you sleep over for a while.
"If I lose... well, it's all the same to me!" Raisa reached into her coat pocket and took out her 2nd Class Officer's badge, flashed it at the young lady, then put it away. "You can trust me, my dear; members of the military aren't allowed to hurt civilians."
Rogos looked up at his God, and then down at the lady's Mareep. He was a bit nervous to think that this would be his very first battle, and he hoped to high heavens that he wouldn't disappoint his God. He shuffled a bit in the cold, then looked up at the lady, thinking for a split second she looked like a wolf. It must have been his imagination; it was gone in a few instants.

Riku heard someone coming; a girl was approaching with a Nidoran beside her. She put on a pleasant, less exhausted face and looked at the other girl. The trainer was tall, taller than Riku, and seemed taller with her high-heeled boots on, as if wishing to intimidate. Unfortunately for her, Riku was immune to intimidation, especially by other females. Riku was dominating around other females herself.
"Why hello..~" she purred, tilting her head the opposite way. Riku always tilted her head like that; it was another wolf-like trait she possessed. "Riku. It's a pleasure." If Raisa had known Riku, she might realize that the warm tone was mostly an act, but as it was, Riku appeared to be genuinely pleased. She nodded in agreement to the proposal and turned to Angel, motioning with a jerk of her head to move forward. The lamb gave a tiny bleat and hopped forward, staring at her opponent with those shiny little eyes..
"Military..?" Riku, being new to this region, knew nothing about the military or about much of anything else; she only knew Pokemon and the general route layout, as she always knew, but she wondered if the Military was a good thing or something similar to Team Aqua. Either way, she wouldn't mind it much, she knew.
"Reeep!" Mareep smacked her trainer on the leg with her tail to remind her to give a command, give an order, SOMETHING. Riku gave a light chuckle and looked to Raisa.
"You can go first~"

Ahhh, another oddball to play with. Raisa liked this Riku already; she didn't even back down from her intense stare. Perhaps, if her Mareep turned out to be good training fodder, they could become... "friends". Raisa had looked down at Rogos to give her orders when she felt something hit her on the head, hard. Without looking, she caught it in her left hand as it rolled off her head. Her ring finger brushed a button, and the object grew in size; Raisa realized it was a Pokeball.
"Oh, wonderful," she said, still grinning. "I've obtained a new Pokemon." She wouldn't release it into the world right then. She wanted to talk to it, alone, and give it the same "training" she had given Rogos. Besides, if Rogos lost the battle while it watched, her authority would be undermined.
"In any case, I do believe it is time to begin. Rogos, be a dear and charge in with Leer and a few Pecks to start." She stepped back to let Rogos do his thing. The little Nidoran crouched down, ready to fight.

Angel braced herself after the Leer, jumping away as quickly as she could when the Nidoran rushed forward to Peck. "Try Growl and a Tackle or two.." Riku said, looking at the Nidoran with a glint of determination. She didn't like to lose, especially not to something so cute as a Nidoran, with the pink skin and spines and adorable rodent face..
She laughed at herself for losing her mind in a long thought again; it was like she had ADD of the brain sometimes. Willing her Mareep to attack hard, she watched the sheep go. She crouched low to the ground and gave a deep growl, or as deep as a sheep can growl, then lunged forward and charged at the Nidoran with her first Tackle.

Your two Pokemon looked at each other as Rogos Used Leer. Its eyes glowed bright red and launched successfully into Angel, dropping its defense slightly. At this moment Rogos started running towards Angel with its horn pointed right at Angel. Angel crouched low and tried a menacing growl that really sounded more like a cute mewling noise but had the desired effect of lowering Rogos' attack slightly. At this moment Angel decided to try to dodge and tackle as well. This is where it gets interesting for those who might be spectating. Angel leaped up in an attempt to jump OVEr the head of Rogos and land with its tackle on its back. At the same time Rogos came up to stab at the poor Angel with a peck and caught Angel right under the chin. Ouch that looks like it hurts, and rightfully so with the two charging at each other. That would be a critical hit as far as Rogos' attack is concerned, but at the same time since he got hit head on by Angel and its tackle. These two attacks damaged each other in a bad way, Rogos took a bit of damage, Angel took more though. The two Pokemon landed in a heap and struggled to stand and face each other. Rogos took advantage of this and pecked the right rear leg of Angel causing another a bit. Angel pushed of with its legs, giving a sleight cry of pain and landed on top of Rogos as it tried to get up but failed. This round goes to Rogos as far as damage goes lets see what the next round has in store. Position: Angel is on top of Rogos. Rogos: Health: 90% Energy: 83% Attack lowered slightly Angel: Health: 78% Energy: 89% Defense lowered slightly

Riku winced at the damage her Mareep had taken from that last turn. She seemed to not be doing so well out there..
"Angel, how about another Growl and two Tackles?" she called to her lamb. The Pokemon seemed to be holding up considerably well for her first battle, especially with her already losing.
"Maar mareep!" Angel called an agreement to comply to her trainer before attempting to obey..

Raisa smirked. This was an... interesting position, to say the least. It gave Rogos a good position, regadless, and it gave her a chance to try out his egg move.
"Rogos, my darling. Stick your needles out as far as they will go and use Poison Jab as well as you can. Jab until it's poisoned, my dear~"
Rogos grunted and shifted underneath the heavy Mareep. It was a stretch, but it was worth a shot. He readied his poison.

Each of your respective pokemon started he round at the same time. Angel let out a mewling growl attack that lowered Rogos' attack but at the same time Rogos slashed towards the same back leg it hit last time this time with a rather more powerful attack. Unfortunately for Rogos Angel was struggling and its attack barely grazed the leg although still did harm. Angel finally got its legs under itself and shoved off to the side, landing only to slam into the back of Rogos sending him rolling across the ground. Rogos leaped up as Angel charged in with another tackle. Rogos scrunched down and stabbed forward with its poison jab and caught Angel in the shoulder with its horn, again both recieving damage from the other. Angel started to back track as Rogos charged at it again and jabbed with its poison horn again this time missing by a few inches. This round still goes to Rogos. Distance 2 feet from each other.

"We've almost got it, my dear," said Raisa. "You're doing splendidly! Keep up your barrage of Poison Jabs, if you please. The sooner we end this, the better."
Rogos, slightly tired from his tirade of attacks, did his best to catch his breath in the short time that he had. His muscles tensed as he got ready for his next round of Poison Jabs. He had to win this. It was for Raisa; his God. With Raisa behind him, there was nothing he could not do!

Angel gave her trainer a worried look and a bleat of dismay.
"Angel, you can do this." Riku had a determined expression. "Three Growls." Riku would try lowering Rogos's attack before he could harm her little Angel any further; if that didn't work, she could always try getting her Pokemon to dodge more often.
Angel still looked worried, but her adoration of her trainer made her trust that it would work, and thus she obeyed..

The battle continued to rage on as Rogos charged straight at Angel with a Poison Jab. Angel leapt out of the way dodging the attack and let out another growl, further decreasing Rogos’ attack. Rogos stopped and turned around and tried attacking again to the same results.
This battle sure is heating up but it looks like both Pokémon are starting to get tired and it is definitely showing. Rogos looked at Angel and attacked a third time, this time connecting with the Poison jab doing a bit of damage only to receive another growl in return. This battle is really getting interesting, Both Pokémon are starting to show signs of Fatigue and this is going to affect their performance, as well as attack power and various other aspect so choose your moves wisely. Postions: Angel is 4 feet from Rogos. Rogos: HP: 73% Eng: 45% Attack Severely Lowered Angel Health: 45% Energy: 50% Defense lowered slightly

Riku had a plan. It probably wouldn't work, but she could try, right? "Angel. Growl and two more Tackles." she said, fixing the Nidoran an intense stare. She didn't want to lose; she wanted to eat and to have a place to stay and to befriend this Pokemon's trainer, and he stood in the way of that.
Regardless of all of that, though, Riku favored Poison-types in a way and thought the rabbit creature was adorable. She gave a small, amused smile as she awaited the end of this round..

Raisa was pleased at the amount of damage she was doing, despite Flaffy's onslaught of Growling. Well, she'd work toward evening things out. Two could play at the "lowering the stats" game. She noted that Rogos was getting tired. It was best to end this quickly
"Rogos, let's even things out a bit, shall we? Leer at it twice before going in for another Poison Jab."
This was quite well. If the woman won, Raisa would gain a new "friend". If she lost, Rogos would gain a level. It was a win-win situation either way.
