Darian yawned.
He'd been stranded in this place for weeks. Weeks! With only this irritatingly temperamental Shellder and a hotel room to his name. Sure, he'd been all eager to get a break from official duties, but being stuck idle wasn't his idea of a vacation. He'd come here to do some hiking and he wanted to do some hiking, but...
Well, why hadn't he left yet? Worried about the current state of the land? He was a well-travelled man, he'd dealt with worse than this before! Well... maybe not so much. But still, if there was one thing he (grudgingly) admitted he was good at, it was training Pokemon. His assortment of Pokeballs back in his lab was a proof of that. Frankly, he figured he could take the leader challenge and win easily.
He sighed. "Well..." He glanced over at the Pokeball he'd trapped the shellder in so it'd stop clacking and making a racket. "Let's see if I can whip you into shape, boy. We're stuck together for a while, at least." Picking it up and slotting it onto the belt he wore, he slung his pack over his back and stood up, stretching a few times. Time to leave the hotel room.
---Scene Change!---
Outside the city limits, he tapped the button at the center of the red-and-white ball and the purple thing appeared again, eager to start clacking and making mean faces at him again. "Oi, brat. You hate me, I get it." He stared at it for a while. "Wanna hurt something?"
He assumed the reaction was a resounding yes. "Alright then, let's go get some less temperamental additions to the team." With the Shellder floating along behind somehow, the Pokemon Prof set out into the forest to find some wild Pokemon. Guess he was following in all his old highschool friends' footsteps, just some 20 years later!
