"Sushi it is then, er, uh, Rei?" He noticed her rising anger. "I hate to get in the way of an angry woman, but, I can hear your teeth grinding." he sputtered, putting his ditto back in it's ball for it's own safety. "perhaps, you should calm down and think this through, I know what that look usually means on a person and breaking that rank and file idiot's face isn't going to make you any happier with the situation."
With that he sighed and waited for her response, hoping some of his words had gotten through the growing haze of anger and frustration surrounding his companion.

Silence met his words at first. Rei's focus was incredibly hard to break, her white-knuckle grip on Eevee's Pokeball beginning to cause her hand to shake. Slowly, though, she let out a slow sigh, minimizing the sphere to the size of a ping-pong ball and clipping it to her belt next to Solo's Pokeball. She pulled the book close to her chest and opened it, writing another note in her journal.
"I don't know what I'll end up doing, but this isn't the place to do it in," she replied finally, her tone tense, but she finally broke her stare from the desk. Looking back up at Varheit, she gave a strangely lopsided smile. Part of her wanted to take off, run, do something. But another part of her knew, despite all reluctance to accept common sense, that she could never change the past and bring Ebon back.
Still, she didn't feel like talking about her past with anyone, especially a man she had just met. No matter how sympathetic he was towards her history. Whatever had happened in his own past would stay in his past for now, and she would keep her own history to herself.
"Yeah, sushi," she replied, either calming down or covering her distress better. "Maybe get some tempura and teriyaki chicken. Or beef, I'll have to think on that one," she admitted. Giving one last evil glance at the table, she turned and started for the entrance. It was far too crowded in here.

Not knowing where to go, Gregora walked into a woman she hadn't seen before. Gregora was in her uniform, just had gotten out of her training and had just received her pokemon from the man who had trained her. She had been holding the pokeball and it was knocked out of her hands by the collision since her grip hadn't been the best. From the pokeball emerged a Chimchar.
"Sorry, ma'am," she said before seeing the Chimchar.
"So I was given...a Chimchar," she said calmly, looking at the monkey-like pokemon, "I think I'll call you Blaze."

Rei stumbled slightly from the impact, turning to shoot the other woman an icy stare over the rim of her glasses. After noticing the Pokemon produced from the incident, she turned her attention to the Pokemon before sliding her sunglasses back into place. A slow grin crossed her face as she bit back her initial harsh words at the person for their carelessness. Instead, she voiced her previous thought before the incident had occurred.
"It's a bit crowded in here, take care Chimchar doesn't get stepped on," she let a little bitterness creep into her tone, a little more than she had intended. Still, having the place set ablaze by someone's Pokemon was a little more than anyone wanted to deal with, especially the military.
Looking upward at the vaulted ceilings of the recreation hall, Rei paused for a moment, wondering if the military would freak out if the building just happened to catch fire. Then, as an after thought, her fingers brushed momentarily over her two Pokeballs to make certain they hadn't been shaken loose, or worse, stolen.
One never could tell these days.

Gregora withdrew the Chimchar and looked at the woman.
"I apologize ma'am," Gregora apologized again, "I'm kind of at a loss as to what I'm supposed to do now that I just finished my training."
She looked away, hearing something that grabbed her attention and noticed that no one seemed to pay attention to the sound and then looked back at the woman. She seemed to be made of ice judging by the woman's glance.
"I should let you go on with your business," Gregora said before wandering off, clueless.

"Well then, Shall we?" Varheit offered his hand as his other dialed for a cab to the sushi restaraunt. "It is a bit crowded here and I'm famished, the cab should arrive soon."
He started towards the door with a beckoning motion, sweeping up his suitcase as he moved. "Besides, you've obviously taken a shock and somewhere quiet ought to help you relax."

"I agree," she turned back to Varheit, though her mind was still on the woman. Clueless and lost. Her rage and pain died a little as she thought of it. The girl probably wasn't much younger than Rei herself, but one never could tell what another had been through. Pushing her emotions down into the fathomless pit that was her tollerancy and shielded by her stubborness, she turned back momentarily to yell at the girl.
"Figure it out. Relax, and hold your head high. You have a reason to be proud, the uniform is very heavy!" she shouted loud enough that she knew the girl would hear over the chatter of people. Satisfied in her basic suggestion, and knowing that sometimes just hearing the basics aloud could do a world of good for someone, she placed a hand on Varheit's arm and followed him out of the building.
Fresh air was wonderful. Very, very wonderful. Stepping out into the sunlight, she fixed her sunglasses one last time, her mind already clearing. The scars, however, might never heal. If they didn't, she wondered if she could truly trust the Eevee to her newfound friend. Caution had been beaten, tortured, and shot into her over the years.
"I hate snapping like that," she remarked, her tone finally clear of any sign of her shock. "It doesn't happen usually. Fresh fish should make it better. I hear the restaurants get regular shipments from New Port, using Ice-type attacks to keep the fresh chilled."

"Happens to everybody, almost all of us have our little buttons that make us dance to their tune when they're pushed. I hate pastel colors, and whenever I think of my old squad I get depressed." he said with a sigh, brushing his hair with his fingers."We were ambushed, caught off guard by a group of rogue trainers and almost all of us slaughtered. only I made it out, and I wouldn't have if I hadn't been knocked unconcious before the shooting started."
"It was, hard leaving them behind. we had fought together for two years in enemy territory and they were like a family, to top it off all of my pokemon had been stolen when I awoke." taking his Ditto's ball in his hand and eyeballing it before putting it in the case. "That's part of why I keep them in such a protective case, But we all have our own armor of sorts." after a short silence the cab pulled into the parking lot, the driver waving to them to get in. "That's us I think." Varheit approached the cab with a frail smile to Rei. "After you."

She wasn't certain if she was shocked by what had happened to Varheit, or shocked that he had told her, a near perfect stranger. Letting out a sigh, she slid into the cab first, not bothering with a seat belt as she faced Varheit. Once the door was closed and directions had been confirmed with the driver, she put a hand on his shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze. For the time being, she was far too uncomfortable to speak publicly to him about it, but later...
"How about after dinner we head out of town for a bit? I'd like to talk to you, and I have an itch to get out some extra energy after what happened earlier," she suggested in a low tone. She had passed by the military's warning post about traveling alone, so she had never left town with Growlithe. But, with Varheit at her back, she felt much more comfortable. The Pokemon Center was on the way out of town, so Solo and Cricket could be at full health before anything happened. Plus, they had back up in case something did happen.
Ditto and... an Eevee.

"Sounds good to me, it's been a while since I went for a nice stroll." his hand smoothing his hair back then removing his gloves. "What would you say to getting the sushi to go and having a little picnic?" he asked, looking out the window at teh starry skies above. "Weather seems right for it, cool breeze, a bit of warmth still left in the soil, could be nice."
The cab arrived at the sushi restaraunt, slowing to a stop in front of the traditional style building and idling at the curb. "this your stop Mr. Carmine?" The driver inquired. "Yeah, this'll be fine Phil, have a good evening." Smiling Varheit shook the man's hand and stepped out of the cab holding the door for Rei as he offered her a hand up.

"A picnic in the dark," Rei chuckled softly. "Well, there's a first for everything."
Taking his hand, she slid out of the taxi, only to trip on the curb and bump into him. Blushing, she raised her other hand to remove her sunglasses finally, dark eyes gazing up at him with a shy smile as she slid away from him, the coloring in her cheeks lingering as she cleared her throat nervously.
"You've been a perfect gentleman all of this time. I feel sort of unraveled in comparison. I apologize for that," she spoke softly as she headed to the door, opening it for him this time as she tucked her sunglasses into the front of her shirt. It was true, too. While he had kept composed, she had fallen apart more than once in different ways. It drove her crazy to be so imperfect, but her impulses were hard to control at best, impossible to reign in at worse. She envied him and his calm demeanor.

Varheit chuckled softly "I'm just a bit old fashioned about etiquette, you've been yourself, and that's all anyone can ask of you." He said, smiling."just try and relax, get stressed out and you'll have wrinkles on that beautiful face of yours in no time."
Suddenly realizing what he'd said Varheit blushed back, unsure of how to continue. "Oh hey, well, we're here, may as well step inside, still need to pick up a blanket from the house." Absently mindedly fiddling with his belt he offered her his hand before starting towards the eatery.

"I need to get a bag from my house as well," she replied, placing her hand in his. Smiling boldly, though she felt aflutter on the inside, she walked inside with him. "Maybe we should order the sushi, drop Solo and your Natu off at the Pokemon Center, then head back to our own houses to get what we need, then we can meet up back there. I live in the apartments, so if you don't live closer, I can pick the food up and meet you at the Pokemon Center," she thought aloud, always over thinking and planning ahead.
Which was another bad habit, as well as a good one. She had forgotten she was holding Varheit's hand the whole while while speaking. Still absent minded about it, she looked up at him curiously.
"Then we can head out for our picnic. What do you think?"

"couldn't have planned it better myself Rei, we'll do that." he replied, beaming. "I'lll meet you at the pokemon center after we order." He strode forward, Bowing to the server as they met at the register. "Hmm, I'd like some Unagi and an order of Dragon Rolls." The server took down his order, scribbling quickly with a pen pulled from her tight bun. "Alright, and what would your daughter like?" The server inquired, looking over Rei and then blushing as she realized they were holding hands.
Suddenly Varheit turned pale, a sweatdrop appearing at his temple."This is my friend Rei." He said, regaining his composure only a small amount. "What'll you have Rei?"

"Terriyaki beef, I decided," Rei spoke with a low tone, staring the man dead in the eyes, her gaze burning into his, daring him to make such a remark again. "I'd like half an order of tuna rolls, and half Kanto rolls. By the way, this little girl makes double your paycheck in her vacation time."
Smiling back up at Varheit, her personality doing a complete change, she finally let go of his hand, having possibly traumatized the man. He would at least know her face and know not to push her buttons. If anything, Rei seemed to enjoy throwing her ability to intimidate on a dime around, a natural talent for the woman. One could only imagine how many scars she caused when in full uniform.
"I'll pick up the food, hun," she spoke in a honey-coated tone, letting him know she wasn't angry with him. "Hopefully they don't undercook my food again, or take an hour. You know how these places are."
With that, she made her way out, knowing that the man would either do an overly good job on her meal, or try to give her food poisoning. Probably the former, they never knew who was military and who wasn't these days. And if one messed with the military, their business could vanish in a day. It had happened before, though the man who caused it was later given a dishonorable discharge for trafficking drugs.
She dropped Solo off to recover the rest of his energy from the afternoon's fight, and the Eevee to make certain it was in full health. Then, she headed back into town to grab a well worn brown bag. It was where her journal would have to live, but it also boasted a pouch for cash, a side bag currently full of Pokeballs, and a few other personal items.
Humming, she headed back into town a few minutes later, enjoying the light jog. Along the way, she picked up the sushi, tipping the man generously. Humming, she headed back to the Pokemon Center. The whole trip had taken her nearly thirty minutes, perhaps something over that. She didn't keep a watch, but she had gathered a flashlight and a couple of electric lamps. Her bag weighed down heavily as she picked up the Pokeballs and sat down, waiting for Varheit to arrive.
"Hm..."
