The woman nodded slowly and held out a pokeball. "This is T'laye's ball. I want to keep my Milotic though," she said and stood up. "Also here are the directions to the base. It is well gaurded by several people as well as pokemon that the Leader owns." she said and handed you a piece of paper that conveniently had the directions written on it.

Rei took the Pokeball and the paper. After a few moments of staring at it silently, she pocketed the paper. Standing in her bra, she nodded to the woman and looked over her shoulder at Neon. With one last glance at the woman, she began to head to the Pokemon Center. With each step, she recalled her Pokemon. Starly, Solo, Pikachu, until she was walking without any Pokemon at her side at all. She had thinking to do, a new shirt to get from her apartment... she would leave the two trainers and her boyfriend to the hospital to treat, but for now, she had other things on her mind.
Quickly, she poked her head back into the bistro, approaching the manager. She told him that the two trainers wouldn't bother him again, and if they didn't pay for the damages, the military would through Rei's payment account. She then promised to return once she had a shirt and her Pokemon were healed to check in on him and see how things were, ignoring the heavy bleeding from her hand.
Once she had stepped back out, she approached Neon, offering the woman the knife back.
"If you would rather have a new one, I'll take you to the store sometime to get one," she promised. "But first, I have to get some shit together," she spoke in a much calmer tone now than she had when threatening her enemy. But, something seemed off about Rei. She seemed tired, and almost spaced out, as if she weren't completely there. Then, out of the blue, she set a change of pace to the conversion.
"I'm Rei, Rei Kalari of the military. I know this sounds a bit strange, but I'm just curious if you want to tag along."

Pale eyes keep trained on Rei as she moved about, only leaving to pin the burned women with a untrusted glare. That was one convenient piece of paper she had there. But what did it matter, maybe she was new to whatever group she's in and still can't find her way around? Or maybe she planned to be beat and keep the directions for her enemy to find, leading her into a trap?
Missing Rei's stare she turned to stare down the street which she and Scorch had come earlier. Maybe now that the excitement was over she and her friend should leave. They had many places to see in this country.
Startled when the woman's voice sounded so close, Neon turned. Blinking owlishly for a moment before her words seemed to register. "Ah, it's just a little blood, nothing a nice washing won't take care of," she said cheerfully as she accepted her knife back. Shoving the object back into her back pack she eyed Rei, what was wrong with her?
"I'm Rei, Rei Kalari of the military. I know this sounds a bit strange, but I'm just curious if you want to tag along."
After a long pause, in which Neon stared blankly at Rei, she throw her head back and laughed. Not able to stop herself until Scorch punched her leg. Stumbling to the side with a yelp she grinned. "It's mice to meet you Rie, I'm Neon Blue from Kanto and Sinnoh," pausing to point to the chimchar at her feet she nudged her with her elbow. "This is Scorch, my one and only pokemon, but I love him. Say his Scorch."
The pokemon snorted and turned his head away from them. Strangers he concluded were not to be trusted.
"He's being difficult is all," Neon informed with amusement. Getting to the major question at hand she leaned back and placed her hands on her hips. "I'm very curious as to what this military is, and this place is very new to me I only just got here today! Not only that but I can't let you go into an evil lair alone! I would miss all the fun, so sure, I'll travel with you."

"I'm sure," Rei lightened up a little as she laughed softly at Neon. "Let's walk and talk, shall we?" she nodded her head back towards the Pokemon Center. They would probably have a cheap meal there as well, and Rei knew she would need to eat something, no matter how much her stomach said she didn't. Proudly ignoring the odd stares she received from passers by, she waited until Neon was ready before moving towards the Center.
"For over a decade, Altairen has been at war with the neighboring country, Vizath, on and off. We have marshal law in effect," she paused, uncertain if an outsider would necessarily understand what that meant immediately. Just to be on the safe side, she explained, "That means our military has taken control of the land in order to keep things their most efficient in battle, and keep civilians safe.
"Because of that, Gyms have been cut down, and without Gyms, the contest crowd has also diminished. Not many casual trainers want to come here due to the age restriction and lack of these things... the military deemed them an unnecessary double sword, since Gods know what would happen if the Vizathian army blew up a Gym and stole the leader's Pokemon to use in battle against us..."
They had traveled a ways, when Rei glanced back at her again, finally turning her gaze to somewhere other than dead ahead.
"I have been a member of the military since I was fifteen. I started off at the lowest rank back then. Since then, I have learned to neither ask favors of the military, or expect much benefit from being friends with them. The only benefit is seeing battle, free apartment space, and throwing your weight around. Which, I've learned how to do sufficiently... But, those are also the reasons I've asked you to come along," she looked straight ahead again, seeing the Pokemon Center finally coming into view.
Once inside, she handed over all of her Pokemon, old and new, to the Nurse, who hardly batted an eyelash at seeing Rei walking around half naked. In fact, she even went as far as to incline if Rei had gotten into another fight, to which Rei only grinned. However, this time, she headed to the cafeteria to help herself to the food, helping herself to a bowl of ramen and taking it to a table. Still more stares, but it seemed that most of the locals, especially the ones in uniform, looked more exasperated than shocked.
"Then again," she said once she had settled down. "If I wasn't a higher rank at this point, I guess I wouldn't get away with breaking common decency. People have given up figuring out why I am the way I am, but it's more trouble for them to bother me about it than they want to handle..."
Her hand went to the leather cord around her neck, playing with the two Umbreon fangs lightly as she mulled over her last sentence, though by now, her focus had returned to her eyes as she looked back at the younger woman. She probably had come in here looking for Gyms to defeat and contests to win. Many people did when they didn't look over the brochure fully, or only traveled on the word of other people who had gone there.
"So, what are you and Scorch going to do after this is over?"

Not needing a signal Scorch scrambled up his trainers arm, perching himself on her shoulders to peer over her head. Letting her grin fade she turned her pale eyes to Rei, "sure."
She listened with an open mind, her face clear of any emotion, even though most of what she said was shocking. War with another country, no gyms and contests. Scorch growled and Neon looked crestfallen, but she pulled herself together a few moments later and sighed. She had traveled here for nothing? Well maybe not, this girl would need her help going to that evil guys lair wouldn't she? Seems she can handle herself to me...
Looking up as Rei continue Neon picked up her pace to meet Rei's longer one. "So.... you asked me to come with you cause you like throwing you weight around?"
Glad to be inside the pokemon center Neon stretched, the sleeves of her baggy tank top sliding down her shoulders. Pulling them up in a gesture that suggested she did so alot she followed Rei on into the cafeteria, settling down across from her. Neon too felt the stares, although all were directed at Rei. Eye twitching in annoyance she turned to glare at one and all. "They act like they've never seen a girl half naked before...." she growled.
Turning back to the older woman she tilted her head, annoyance gone in a flash. "Scorch and me... Not sure. Travel some more around here, add to our team. Leave after a while, I guess. There's still a lot of the world we haven't seen before." No home to go back to that was for sure.

"I never said I like throwing my weight around, just that I could do it very well and effectively. What I meant was that I don't get along with the military, and I do not feel like asking anyone who hadn't at least seen or heard parts of what had just happened to come along," she clarified. A soft snicker met Neon's comment about her walking around naked.
"Actually, most of the regulars and locals aren't that shocked. I've come in here with half of my hair and an eyebrow burned off before when Solo decided to teeth on an extension cord, swallowed half of it, and was puking up fire..." she let out a sigh, then blinked as she clarified, "Solo being my Growlithe."
"I suppose. Altairen will show you some things you've never seen before, I'm sure. It's a unique region. It once also boasted the largest collection of rare and powerful Pokemon of all of the lands that I've heard of, but that was a long time ago..." she looked down into her half-eaten ramen. After a minute or two of silence, she picked up a spoon and began to sip the broth.
"At the very least, I would suggest seeing the sights. I've never been to Terra myself, but I heard that the entire mountain range is a dormant volcano with human-made paths down into the volcano itself where lava is still pooling... but on top it's covered on snow and ice. It is to the... East of Central. And just beyond it is Paradox, which is basically a no man's land. Some people who go there never come back, but I want to head there myself at least once.
"Actually, once this is over, I was going to start by going down south to around Rustan or around there to release the Mankey. He's powerful, but not the kind of Pokemon I would know how to train."

The small girl nodded, biting down into a PB 'n J sandwich that had just been handed to her. Her favorite. Turning to Scorch, to had just been served his own food she winked and he growled in return. "Fire pokemon can be a little hot sometimes."
She listened on with a thoughtful ear, her eyes trained on her sandwich. She had heard interesting things about this country, it was the reason she and Scorch had spent the last of their money to come here, it hopes of getting stronger and gaining some gym badges. Obviously the gym badge thing wasn't going to work here, but that didn't mean she and Scorch couldn't train, right?
Going with Rei might prove useful as well, being as she's such a high rank in the military and she knew her way around. Giving a small nod about the mankey she smiled, "I must agree with you, mankeys aren't my type of pokemon either."
With a sigh she finished off her sandwich and finally looked up to meet Rei's gaze, "sight seeing would be nice, plus me and Scorch need to get stronger. This place does seem unique, a perfect place for two unique creatures such as ourselves!" With an arrogant smirk she playfully pulled her pokemon's ears earning a loud growl and playful shove. Chuckling she continued on, "where are we heading out to after this? To that man... woman's... whoever's lair?"

"Indeed. After I get some alone time with my new Pokemon," she glanced out of the window thoughtfully, as if looking for something. An ambulance raced by the window, heading towards the bistro. Hopefully everything would be alright. Letting out a soft sigh, she shook her head and looked back to the Chimchar with a slight grin. "It won't take very long, I'm sure..." she pulled out the directions and placed it onto the table, eyeing it as though looking for traps.
"We won't know what will happen until we get there... but personally, I think I will go as far as to kill this leader, just as I have threatened..." her eyes narrowed a little. It wouldn't be the first time, or the last time that Rei would resort to such things. A part of her thought it would be funner to ask into the interrogation team and accidentally slip him a little something. That would make him stay alive, perhaps longer than he would want to while they rip intel from him, but sometimes, a rabid dog should just be put down rather than passively poked with a stick.
"But first, I need to stop by my apartment for my stuff. Walking around without a shirt in a skirt and pulling Pokeballs out of a purse is only amusing for so long..." the lights came on. It was finally getting dark outside by now, the sun beginning to disappear in the distance. As she watched the shadows grow longer and the sky turn to red, a lonely thought crossed her mind.
"I wonder if she wanted to be killed today, and the directions found on her body."

Neon listened again, eyes on her hands, which she folded and unfolded on the table top. Alone time with her new pokemon? Killing the leader?
She chuckled when she mentioned being shirtless, but otherwise remained quiet. Her eyes however finally glanced up, she didn't know what to say. She didn't usually go around putting people on fire, even though it sounded like fun. "Quiet possibly..." she murmured.
Hoping to turn topics she tilted her head, "so you have a new pokemon? What kind?"
